Ile aux Aigrettes (Egret Island)

Ile aux Aigrettes is located in the largest bay of Mahebourg, on the east coast of Mauritius. The island offers 27 acres of pristine flora nad fauna, which makes this site a great place to visit.

As Ile aux Cerfs, this island is uninhabited. Ile aux Aigrettes is a nature reserve, a natural habitat of a number of rare animals and flowers: including the pink pigeon or the giant tortoise.

Although the island is closed to the public, it is possible to arrange for a visit and contemplate these wonderful Mauritian species through a tour organized by the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation, the organization in charge of the reserve.
